Sue is a pianist and organist who specialises in performing stylish music to create the perfect ambience for luxury weddings, memorials and other events. She can provide her own stunning portable white baby grand, or use the piano or organ in your chosen venue. Sue can supply a PA to suit your venue, and perform inside or outdoors, as required. Based in South Wales, she covers events within a radius of approximately 150 miles from home.
A freelance musician, Sue combines work as a gigging pianist and organist with teaching, consultancy and writing. She enjoys performing at weddings and other private events, as well as accompanying choirs and supporting soloists and ensembles. She works regularly with the Adams Chorale, Côr Aduniad, Lleisiau Voices Torfaen, and St Cybi Consort. She also plays for several Come and Sing workshops, the Forget-me-not-Chorus, and supports local schools with their music-making.

I can provide a PA to amplify the piano for larger venues. For outdoor events without electricity, I can provide a very large battery for amplification.
Other than the address (and any particular quirks in finding the venue!), it's good to know about parking, access and egress.
Yes, I provide everything that's needed. It's good to know the number of guests expected so I know what size speakers to provide.
Yes, I'm happy to use a Spotify playlist before and between sets.
One wedding is particularly memorable. I started playing the couple's favourite song as the bride walked up the aisle, and the groom burst into floods of tears. He thanked me after for making 'their' song work for solo piano, and told all the guests I'd made their dream come true! I love performing in iconic venues such as Cardiff Castle and the National Museum, but am equally happy playing in a church hall!
My favourite events are definitely weddings, but I also find it very rewarding to play for memorial services.
I can barely remember a time when I didn't play the piano! I was the kid who accompanied singing in school assemblies and was always expected to entertain visitors. One of my first regular gigs was as a cocktail pianist in the Park Hotel in Cardiff, where I played several times a week.
Too many to mention!
45 mins if providing a baby grand piano shell and PA. No set-up if using an acoustic piano owned by the venue.
Yes, as long as there is a flat level surface and cover in case of rain!
I usually ask clients to suggest a few of their favourite songs, then I add to this by selecting songs in a similar genre. I am always very happy to learn new songs as this helps to keep my repertoire fresh and up-to-date.
Clients always comment on how my playing helps guests to mingle and relax.
Yes, I can play the organ, but do please check whether it is in good working order, has recently been tuned, and that someone in the church has the key for it! If not, I will bring in a digital instrument and large speakers, and use this to recreate the sound of an organ.
Yes! I am renowned for arranging songs for solo piano and will always find a way to make a piece work. So far, the most unusual request I have had for a processional is Darth Vader’s Theme to be played in the style of Beethoven, but if you think you can beat this, bring it on!
I always take my own piano in case the one supplied by the venue hasn’t been tuned for a while or is not in good working order, but I’m very happy to use the venue’s piano if it sounds good.
