About / Biography

"SWING THAT CLASSIC" plays only classical music (mainly opera arias), but in the style of traditional New Orleans and swing jazz.

We work with very elaborate arrangements, ans respect for the original scores of the opera arias, crossing them with traditional New Orleans jazz standards, as naturally and simply as possible.

Here are some of the happy musical marriages we offer:
- "NESSUN DORMA (TURANDOT)" and "DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO MISS NEW ORLEANS?",
- "LIBIAMO" (TRAVIATA) and "MUSKRAT RAMBLE",
- "DUO DES FLEURS" (LAKME) and "PENNIES FROM HEAVEN", with an adaptation of the lyrics in French,
- "LASCIA CH'IO PIANGA" and "ST. JAMES INFIRMARY"

We can play acoustically, with just a self-managed microphone for the voice

Singer, trumpet, tenor saxophone, piano, double bass, washboard

We performed in many luxurious and more humble hotels.
It's always a pleasure to play for important events, public or private ones.
Our best recompense is the smiles on the faces we meet during the day...

What's your favourite type of event?

We love to play for weddings, overall. Especially for people who appreciate sophisticated music and good moments.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We all are professionals for many years. One of us is musician since 1977. Other band members play music since late 1990/2000. We played in different countries, for every type of events. It's our life, we love that.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Every sincere artist inspires us. The greatest song s are those who last through ages.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive 2 hours, at least, before the performance to set up, check the sound and have a short break before the music starts. We adapt the sets length to your needs and event. Up to 2 hours of music, with at least one break, seems a very good length to us. It can be less or a bit more, we can talk about that with you.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Playing outside is always welcome. We just need a shaded and flat place, with a power supply (at least).

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We prefer the clients to pick in our list. For special requires, we need to know them in advance, specially during spring, summer or autumn, because we have a lot of gigs during these seasons.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

During concerts, the audience always gives us a standing ovation, with tears of joy on the cheeks!
