Sylvester Aklamavo's Miton Band (SAMB) is a 6 piece African-Fusion jazz band with some elements of
world music. The band is based in South Africa and performs mostly their original compositions and also
some covers of other artists. The band was put together in 2010 by Sylvester Aklamavo and he is also
the bandleader.
This sextet consist of a Guitarist, Bass guitarist, Pianist, Saxophonist, Percussionist and Drummer. The
vocals are done by Sylvester Aklamavo or other band members depending on what sound we trying to
achieve on a particular song.
He has performed in places like Winnies Soul & Jazz Restaurant, Sandton; Newtown Junction and Bright
water commons mall in Randburg to name a few. His band “Sylvester Aklamavo & Miton Fusion Band”
has performed at Yfm’s Live and ReYired, UBUNTU festival 2018 in Mpumalanga and also at STANDARD
BANK JOY OF JAZZ 2017 on the Development Stage, as one of the winners of DISCOVER S03
COMPETITION and the band was also the 1st runner up of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival
2018 and 2019 ESPAFRIKA’s Young legends online competition.
