Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a level performance space that is covered from harsh weather conditions. We require a power supply closeby.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know the venue to consider traveling costs.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We can provide basic sound equipment if necessary, but for medium to small audiences we prefer to play acoustically as this is more authentic.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We can provide background music between sets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

La Petite Ferme in Franschhoek is one of our favorite venues. We also enjoyed playing at The Crypt in Cape Town when the venue was still booming. However, every event, function or venue we have played at has been special.

What's your favourite type of event?

We love playing at all sorts of events but our style works best at wedding canapés, corporate functions, restaurants and markets. We are professional and flexible to adapt to the occasion.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Tarabu has been active since 2012.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Our influences are large and varied in the Jazz idiom, the band Quadro Nuevo, African Jazz, and World Music.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We can perform up to 3 x 45-50 minute sets, but usually 1 or 2 sets are what most of our clients request.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We are happy to perform outside, but we require shade, a flat and level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. We don't performance in rain or very harsh winds.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We trust that our clients are familiar with our music and what they can expect from us.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Professional, entertaining, exciting, dynamic, captivating!
