Tasuta N-Imal Music of Anti-Atlas highlanders

TASUTA N-IMAL means “Future Generation”. The band has in its heart the ambition to recite musically the history, values and way of living of nomadic and desertic groups and inhabitants of Anti-Atlas to the next generations. Anti-Atlas, as the place where the members of the band came from, is marked by picturesque kasbah (small castles) in many places in the region. In former times, the kasbah was important as a place of shelter and as a supply depot for kinsmen. Close to these settlements, terraced fields with dry-stone retaining walls cover the landscape, however, increasingly houses are vacated and fields are left uncultivated. With the continued migration from the land, the irrigation systems necessary for agriculture are also decaying. This confirms that the circumstances of living are very harsh.
The band has a special music inspiring the depth of their song from diverse musical heritage of Anti-Atlas. The poetry refers to having a deep look at the nomads’ and sedentary groups’ sufferings, their significant history, and their values of tolerance, love, peace and resistance. The group took this kind of music to show this side of culture to the world and since the music is a homeland of peace and tolerance. They preferred this kind of music to have contact and connect with the world.

Tasuta n imal in this meaning is not just a band, but it is an expression of a lot of feelings describing themselves as inhabitants of Anti-atlas as well. They took this style of music as a mosaic full of different colours so the public can understand the meaning of life in this era.
