About / Biography

The Brice Tabish Band’s music brings the early influence of jazz rhythms on classic rock music back to our attention with their blues-inspired brand of original hard rock. The album is an alchemy of elbow grease, as it was largely recorded in a makeshift studio set up by Tabish and co-producer Andre Gautron. Using Red Brick Studios, a rehearsal facility in Vancouver, to track guitars and drums, additional elements were recorded in boat houses, living rooms, and anywhere that wasn't an actual recording studio. While guitarist/vocalist Brice Tabish and bassist Peg Wilson perform on every track, the rest of the band plays musical chairs as drummer Lyndon Dewitt, keyboardist Pat Covernton, keyboardist Rob Blackburn, drummer Tom Skillman, and guitarist Bob Batyi all contribute to different songs on the album. Tabish describes the album as "perfectly imperfect like all of the albums that inspired me. It’s not cut to the grid, it’s not autotuned, and it’s not layered with overdubs. I want to say that it’s not a 'retro' album, but if making a 44 minute, 9 song, guitar-oriented rock album that occasionally gets a little proggy and isn’t quantized to death is retro, then maybe it’s a little retro."

Brice Tabish has spent more than half of his life onstage, having performed all over Vancouver Island and the mainland by the age of 14. Since then, he's performed from BC to New Brunswick and back, multiple cities in California, including Santa Rosa with Norman Greenbaum ("Spirit In The Sky") and several solo shows on the world famous Sunset Strip, as well as Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and a brief stint in the heart of downtown London, England, to name a few. Born in Campbell River, Tabish currently resides in Vancouver, playing regularly with Las Divas, The Brice Tabish Band, and Lee Aaron ("Metal Queen", "Bodyrock") as well has having worked with the likes of Andrew Loog Oldham (Original manager/producer for The Rolling Stones) and Mike Fraser (Producer/Engineer, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica). With the release of The Brice Tabish Band’s debut album, “Living In A Number Game”, the band will be touring across Canada as far as New Brunswick in 2023.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need roughly four power sockets.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs but do not yet provide lights.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

We performed at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton, NB twice. The staff, the front-of-house sound engineer, and the audience were so incredible, it was quite something, especially being on the other side of Canada, as we're based out of BC in Vancouver and Campbell River.

What's your favourite type of event?

I can't honestly say we have a favourite type of event, we're happy playing in theatres, banquet halls, backyards, pool parties, bars, rodeos, weddings, it's all been a great time!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been performing on stage for 20 years and this band has been together for 9 years. We've performed all over Canada in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and PEI. In previous bands, I've performed many times in the US in California, Montana, Washington, and Oregon. I've also performed in the UK in downtown London.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

The thing we hear the most from people who come to see us is what a wide range of material we play. I think that stems from the fact that our influences are very diverse. To name a few:

The Beatles
Beegees
Billy Squier
Black Sabbath
The Cars
Cheap Trick
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young
Deep Purple
Dio
Eagles
Elton John
Elvis Presley
Fleetwood Mac
Huey Lewis & The News
James Brown
James Taylor
Jeff Beck
Kiss
Led Zeppelin
Linda Ronstadt
Little Feat
Marvin Gaye
Olivia Newton-John
Ozzy Osbourne
Peter Frampton
Peter Gabriel
Rainbow
Rush
Stevie Wonder
Styx
Thin Lizzy
Willie Nelson
Van Halen

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive at least 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 4 x 45 minutes or 3 x 60+ minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 5 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers have described us as being having great showmanship combined with a very wide range of material that keeps the dance floor active.
