We need a performance space of at least 5 metres x 3 metres. We require 2 x 13 amp power sockets. If playing outdoors we'll need some sort of covering from the elements like a marquee or similar.
Need to know about access for loading our gear in and out. If we're playing in a multi-storey venue we need to know if there is a lift or similar to help with getting our gear up there.
Yes, we always provide our own PA and lights. For larger indoor venues (e.g. 200+ people) or outside veunes, we would either request a full PA and sound technician be made available by the client or alternatively we would supply a full band PA (e.g. for all vocals and instruments + tech) at additional cost
Yes , we provide all background music and music in-between sets
There are many that come to mind over the years, in more recent times the gig we did at The Deluxe Bar, Alexandra Rd, Moonee Ponds last year was probably one of the best. We played well, there was a huge crowd (~300) that really enjoyed themselves and we were fully miked up for the whole band with our sound engineer.
We love playing at all types of events, but probably private parties & outdoor festivals are our favourite.
Most of the band members have been playing and/or singing most of their lives from early teens. So between the 5 of us we probably have >150 years of live playing experience. Getting into gigs and performing for people was just the natural thing to do, as we love to entertain and love it when people get enjoyment out of our music.
There are too many to name, but Tina Turner features 4 or 5 times some nights in our set list and she's a crowd favourite
We normally arrive 1/1.5 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform either 3 x 45 minutes or 4 x 40 minutes sets (depending on what the client wants and the type of event it is). We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best."
Yes, in fact we love playing outdoors. For day or night time gigs, some form of covering from the elements is required like a marquee. If possible a stage (say 300mm high) is preferably if possible. For large outdoor events there is the cost for the band and also the cost for the full PA and sound engineer. Either we can provide the full PA and sound engineer, or the venue can provide them. (for indoor and small outdoor events, our normal PA and setup works very well, but for larger outdoor events a bigger sound system is required.
We have a fairly standard approach to our set lists as we've been playing gigs for a long time, so we tend know which songs work and which ones don't. Having said that particularly at weddings and private parties, we encourage our client to pick 2 or 3 songs that they would really like us to play on the day/night (especially wedding dance songs for the bride & groom as an example)
Previous clients would describe us a top band with loads of energy and a fantastic set list, with something in there for everyone to enjoy. Our focus is very much on getting people up and dancing whenever possible.
Once you confirm the booking, I (John), will work with you to develop a run sheet for the day/night with load-in/out times, set times, background music, any speeches, special songs etc. as necessary. We have played a fair few private functions, weddings, corporate, pub and private parties over the last 8-10 of years, so we know the drill pretty well! We typically play quieter slower tempo songs at the start of the night/function, and then can ramp it up as the night goes on so we can have your guests in full party mode! We work through exactly what you want your event to look, feel and sound like. We try and make it as stress-free as possible for you, so that you can focus on having a great time with your guests and know that the music and entertainment is all taken care of.
Yes and Yes! Our drummer Mick is also a fully-fledged MC and can undertake that function for you at no additional cost to you. And yes for speeches and announcements we encourage clients to use our PA as its all set up and will provide the best sound coverage and clarity.
