Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

I've performed for audiences of several thousand people at various fund raising events throughout the greater southern California area.
One of the best places I've entertained was at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood, California.

What's your favourite type of event?

I sing with a couple of 17-piece swing bands every month. But my favorite type of show is using professionally recorded backing tracks and singing the great hit songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin, and more at weddings, corporate events, retirement parties, etc.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been entertaining since I was in high school many years ago. I was fortunate to have a father who was a professional singer/entertainer. He introduced me to the world of music and entertainment at a very young age.

I am a featured singer with a couple of 17-piece swing bands with whom I sing on a regular basis. Singing and entertaining is my life's passion. I never get tired of it, and I never get tired of seeing the smiles on the many faces in the crowd!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My father introduced me to singing and entertaining. He was an amazing talent and I learned a lot from him. My favorite artist is without a doubt Frank Sinatra. His voice and ability to entertain were second to none. He recorded so many great songs. My two favorite ballads he recorded are "All or Nothing at All" and "Old Man River".

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I can do a three-song singing telegram all the way up to 3 x 50 minutes sets and anything in between. One hour shows are fairly typical for retirement/birthday parties. Bigger events will book me for two or three sets of approximately 45 - 50 minutes each. I play suitable background music in between sets to keep things moving.

Except for singing telegrams, which only take a few minutes to set up, I typically arrive about one hour before the performance to set up my PA equipment. I require the same amount of time to break everything down.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as the weather is suitable and the area is shaded. I also need a flat, level surface and a power supply close by.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

As long as the songs requested are ones that I know, I am open to whatever they want to hear. Typically, my clients leave it up to me to pick the set list.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

I always receive positive comments about my performances. Fortunately, I was blessed with a good voice (no doubt inherited from my father who was an amazing singer!) and I frequently hear how much they enjoyed my show.
