Meal before performance preferred, free soft drinks/coffee/water. Prefer PA to be supplied and sound tech, but can provide up to a 1500 watt sound system if necessary. Usually only carry Y10P speakers for PA, more is overkill, with a Soundcraft 10 or equivalent soundboard. Prefer using Sennheiser C931 mic-inusually Carty my own mic, or Shure BetaSM58. Usually have own mic stand. If flying to show, I seldom bring my guitars, but will bring my mic and cables, and try to rent a guitar in town or city. Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

DI for guitar. Mic stand sometimes; monitor-prefer 100-200 wedge monitor. Stool to sit, usually. Prefer PA at venue/event, but if I am driving to event, can bring own small PA-Soundcraft10Soundboard with 2 Y10P wedge speakers, stands.
Prefer SennheiserC931 mic, but will settle for Shure SM58 or Beta58 if I don't or cannot bring my mic.

What information do you require about a venue?

How many seats; do I have to provide PA? If so I need to know size of the venue or event. Location and address to event venue. Load in area will be needed, and possibly venue should provide a cart to expedite load-in/load out. Is there a limit to sound volume? Limiter int the room? What kind of venue?(bar, corporate event etc)

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I have two LED lights with a single stand. I have Soundcraft10 soundboard, with 2 1000 WALatt speakers and 2 Y10P monitors, plus mics, stands. For most shows, I seldom use more than my 200 watt Y10P speakers.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can pipe in music thru my PA if necessary. I never use Spotify or most other streaming services, but I can use Stingray if need be.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

My best gig was in British Columbia at an international event, at an indigenous Pavillion, in Surrey BC. Played to a decent sized audience in a park with 10,000 people from all cultures around the world.

What's your favourite type of event?

I love feature events, where artists are featured. Festivals etc

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been a professional singer and songwriter with awards etc, since 1985. I played as a busker on the streets of Toronto, Vancouver BC, Surrey BC, North Vancouver BC, Halifax Nova Scotia, Montreal Quebec, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Calgary, Edmonton, Alberta ; Smiths Falls, Ottawa, Merrickville Ontario. Started out in first all nativenrun coffeehouse in Toronto in early 80s. Did some session work in TO, plus theater, toured Canada as actor in 85, and toured TO area 87. Formed only CSNY tribute band with other street musicians in Toronto, and after moving to Ottawa, opened for many big acts. Played many venues as solo artist; won several.awards in 90s, 2000s and lastly 2012. Hosted open mics, played with many bands as well as soloist. Recorded.CD in 2001, released twice and got radio airplay across Canada on the premier indigenous radio station, now defunct AVR.
Playing mostly solo and the odd duo gig.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Too many to mention. Neil Young, Floyd Westerman, David Bromberg, Jerry Jeff Walker, Eric Clapton, Sting, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills. Many many others.
I thing there are a few "greatest songs". One being Unchained Melody.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I have 500.cover songs and a dozen originals that are pretty good. I can play from 30 minutes to three hours, divided into three one hour sets. Prefer 32 to 3 50 minute sets. Always depends on venue and what's needed. Will usually arrive minimum an hour to two hours before, to set up, eat and sound check.
Will play two to three sets of 50 minutes, as needed. On occasion I am required to play a 30 to 60 minute set.
I can accommodate most venues and set up.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I can and will play outdoors, provided safety for myself, instruments and equipment is assured.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I seldom take requests, but it is usually venue dependant. I usually have set lists, or at least ideas of what to play based on the audience.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Most clients love my song selections.
