Vibez Groovers is a premier Reggae/Caribbean music band based in the UK and London. We specialize in performing a dynamic mix of Reggae, Ska, Calypso, Soca, and Afro Beat styles. Our live shows feature classic Reggae songs as well as contemporary chart-topping hits, along with our own original compositions. Whether you're a seasoned Reggae fan or new to the genre, Vibez Groovers is sure to deliver an unforgettable musical experience.
The difference between the VGz Duo & other groups is, the dancing & audience participation. That is something we bring to every party & is unique to our brand of performance. For both myself as a Bassist trained on Electric & Upright Basses, with many years on the circuit performing as a sideman with a variety of artists, some of whom have experienced major success in the UK & internationally, I bring a set of authentic skills to the band stand in the Bass & Groove department. Likewise our Vocalist frontman who also covers the harmonic department as a cultured & Skilled Guitarist, insures the finest interpretations of songs you know & love. Growing up in the Caribbean, he lives & breathes this music. With that comes an unquestionable level of originality, within the Reggae, Ska song book. As a duo we pack a big punch musically speaking. The dance moves we teach during the shows in a friendly & informal manner, make us a band you can listen to & join in with making every party a fun occasion, for both young & old. The addition of humorous banter mixed in with entertaining grooves completes the dynamics.
With Vibez Groovers, you’ll get a band who can take you on a musical & foot stomping, leg shaking memorable journey through the Reggae music archives, stopping off on the way to experience some Classic Motown, Pop Funk & anything else we feel would be needed to give you & your audience a memorable good time. Although we perform as a Duo we can expend our line up by adding Drums & Keyboards for an optional bigger sound where there is a larger budget to work with on an event.

We need a reasonable sized performance space to accommodate 2, 3 or 4 band members depending on the gig. Where parking is available this will always be an advantage. A reasonable amount of power sockets is also advisable at the venue.
Anything to do with parking restrictions, loading areas, entry & exit points for the performers on an event if different from the public will be helpful. Directions if the venue is located in an unusual area will also be welcomed.
We provide a full PA system on all of our gigs unless one has been provided for the event or the venue has a house PA & or backline. We travel with a minimal stage lighting rig & some ambient lighting.
We can provide a playlist in between sets & before the performance, with our own selection of songs or a list provided by the client if preferred.
Probably the best gigs we’ve done are the party ones, both Birthday Parties & Christmas Light Switch On events. Besides these choices it’s hard to select one single event, as we try to make each event special. What stands out at the events I mentioned would be the atmosphere & vibe we get from both organisers & audience, leaving us with the memory & sense of being part of a community with a shared experience in the moment.
All types of events are memorable for us as a band. Every audience is different & they determine the mood, song selection & how we interact during the show. We try to tailor a performance to suit each audience & space we perform in.
I have played many types of gigs for quite sometime as the Bassist of the band, I bring the depth of my musical knowledge & performance experience to each gig. Our Lead Vocalist/Guitarist who front the band has grown up in the Caribbean & has always been surrounded by Caribbean music & the varied styles found on the islands. He brings this authentic knowledge along with his many years experience as a Guitarist & Singer to every individual performance. In a nut shell performance & music is something we have lived & grown with for most of our lives. Although we could he considered veterans there is always something new to experience every time we perform, this keeps everything fresh & the vibe is always real.
I couldn’t pick any one song as my greatest song of all time, there are to many to choose from. As far as artist go I have & we as a band have & hold many of the artist who’ve influenced the world of music in that highest regard, from Miles Davis to Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis, Jimmy Cliff, Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan, David Bowie, MJ & so many more. The world has been graced with so many genuine contributors leaving a mark on all of us.
We usually set up an hour before the start time, leaving time for a line & sound check when possible. Our sets can vary from a typical 2x45 minutes, 2x60 minutes both with 15 minute breaks or, we’ll do a 3x45 minute set on longer performances. There are times where we’ll play straight through without breaks to keep the momentum constant on a particular show. All of our set times are flexible if & when we need to make adjustments to suit the clients brief.
Yes we are happy to perform outside as we have done on many occasions. Normally the power supply would be provided by the stage area & a gazebo or canopy set up in case of rain.
Clients can have a say in the set list, either on the day or if they require a particular song, we will need advanced notice.
We are described as a highly entertaining party band on some occasions & always interactive with the audience on all occasions. Anyone who’s booked us will confirm that we always work to please the room, when they’ve connected with us we can best tune in to their musical & entertainment needs. At it best the vibe is always shared experience & one where everyone goes home with a good memory. Everyone gets to leave their concerns outside for a moment & share some positive vibes/grooves with the band.
We have performed at several Rum Party sponsored events over the years particularly when pubs hold sponsored events in their beer gardens. So we are quite familiar with the atmosphere needed which we generate through our choice of songs & performance style. Giving people a taste of the Caribbean & bringing them into the island mood, whatever our British weather might be like at the time. Our Vibez& mood will transport the room to a Sunnier place, even if it’s just for that moment.
