About / Biography

Vintage Voltage here, a 70s Rock Experience band from Brighton. We’re here to prove that not only old men in wigs can play #dadrock! Just to be clear, we LOVE our dads (and their wigs) and wouldn’t be into this music if it weren’t for them. Having said that, we think we appeal to a larger and younger audience given we’re all under 30 and can still unbutton our shirts like Pagey and Planty used to ...

During our gigs we transport the audience back in time to (re)live the heydays of Rock; when guitarists were gods and bands were religions. We play many classic hits as well as deep cuts by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Free, Sabbath, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Santana, Queen, and many more ... A little on the band: Originally all of us met in Brighton at BIMM where we studied music performance. We've been playing in different bands together ever since (for 10+ years). The backbeat is provided by non other than Conor, who hails from Ireland originally. He loves a bit of Thin Lizzie and Zeppelin of course. On bass we've got Zac, an insane player who simply loves playing and can perform anything from Rush to Weather Report ... Evie is our amazing powerhouse of a vocalist, mostly inspired by the likes of Beth Heart and Ann Wilson. Folly, our guitarist is the brainchild of this project. With the same Dutch Gouda running through his veins as Jan Akkerman and Eddie Van Halen, he plays fat riffs like it's nobody's business ...

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a performance space of at least 8 meters x 5 meters (if smaller please get in touch). We require 2 x 13 amp power sockets and 2 parking spaces.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We have our own PA and backline we can bring (if needed) and groovy lamps and lasers that match our 70s theme (lava projector etc).

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We're happy to play music through the PA before we start and during our break. If you want music after we finish, there is an extra fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

Our favourite gig was at Slim Jim's in London at a private birthday recently. And the coolest venue, a huge church in Brighton.

What's your favourite type of event?

We love parties, festivals, weddings, and even funerals. If you bring the roll we'll bring the rock regardless of the occasion!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We've all been gigging for many years and are all in multiple bands. Vintage Voltage as a project started around 1 year ago.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

... mmm difficult. Obviously we love all the great, Zeppelin, Purple, The Stones etc. The greatest song of all time ... Maybe Gimme Shelter by the Stones, or No Quarter by Zeppelin?

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup time 1.5 hours. Performance time is normally 2 hours (longer is possible for an extra fee) split up into 2 x 60 or 3 x 40 min.

Are you happy to perform outside?

If there is a flat surface that is sheltered from potential showers ... yes.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We're happy to throw in a request or two if we are given enough notice. If you want more than two songs, we can also do this,s but this will incur extra costs for the rehearsals.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Many clients praise our musicianship and ability to get everyone to Rock out to classics (even those who don't know the music very well)!
