Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I like to arrive 1 hour before start time to make load all of my equipment in, get set up, do a sound check, and relax for a few minutes before show time.
I have plenty of extension cords, etc., but the closer to an outlet the better. Long extension cord runs diminish the power running through the cord.
I have an equipment cart to carry my equipment in on if needed, but the closer to the entrance I can park the better and quicker I can get my equipment in and set up without getting in the staff and patron's way.

What information do you require about a venue?

I like to know ahead of time if the event is inside or outside, covered or uncovered. I also need to know if there are stairs since I load my equipment on a cart to load in/out
I also like to know if a power source is close by.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I provide my own sound system for any size event.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I do not provide DJ services per se, but I can provide music between my sets if requested.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever worked at?

It's hard to say because I have had opportunity to play at some great venues and events. The most satisfying event was a fundraiser for a horse rescue that connects rescued horses with veterans with PTSD.

What's your favourite type of event?

I enjoy private events like birthday/anniversary/retirement celebrations because everyone is there to celebrate and have a fun time.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started playing bass in a family band back in the mid 80's. Several years later, I started my own 5 piece band, then began doing solo and duo gigs for the last 10 years.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Hard to say who had influenced my music the most. I grew up listening to classic rock and learning to play 70's singer/songwriter artists' songs.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

My set up typically takes less then 20 minutes.
Two 55 minute sets with one 5 minute break half way.
Three 55 minute sets with two 5 minute breaks between sets.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I enjoy performing outside as long as it's not raining or snowing! Being under shade helps protect my equipment. I try to keep my bookings between 55 and 90 degrees. Below those temps and things/equipment start to go down hill.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I always ask clients to provide any song requests they have, and I'll include as many as I can learn by the event date.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients always comment on me being easy to work with. They also say how much everyone enjoys the variety of songs I include in my sets.

What style of music do you offer?

I play a variety of styles and genres including Americana, Roots-Rock, Country, Acoustic Blues, and Originals.
