About / Biography

Odincanto is a refined and versatile project of Italian musical culture and poetry conceived by opera artist Ilaria Sacchi and promoted as a duo together with pianist Silvia Orlandi, in collaboration with actress Sara Gozzi.

It focuses on songs and poems composed between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, particularly on lyrics in music that ran on the parallel track to operatic production, the so-called salon romance, at a time when salons were lived in the substance of culture, with a very particular sonic connotation, linked to spaces, the shape of time and above all to the presence of people. That environment tells us with its sounds of a real, plastic, creative, welcoming world, made up of encounters, dialogues, ideas, art, a world colored with deep essences, which the two world wars of the twentieth century abruptly interrupted and irreparably shattered.

This project takes up the ancient challenge of poetic expression, at the point where verse meets the need to become sung rhyme, thus music by inspiration of verses and melodies, so as to remain doubly immortalized, easily popularized, pleasantly experienced and remembered as a double song, indeed ode in song, a powerful expression of the essence of the soul.

Main performers:
Ilaria Sacchi, mezzo-soprano
Silvia Orlandi, piano

Sara Gozzi, actress

We normally arrive at the venue some time before the concert (1 hour or more) to do a brief acoustic test of the environment and instrument

Are you happy to perform outside?

It is possible to perform the concert outdoors, but in any case a contained environment such as a courtyard, a villa garden or a small square is necessary so as to avoid excessive sound leakage. If the concert is daytime, it is necessary in all cases for there to be shelter and shade
