ESTABLISHED IN 2012, GROOVE STAR IS A DYNAMIC AND EXPERIENCED BAND BASED IN SWINDON, WILTSHIRE CLOSE TO THE BEAUTIFUL COTSWOLDS AND THE COUNTRYSIDE OF OXFORDSHIRE AND GLOUCESTERSHIRE.

With years of experience performing at weddings of all sizes, we’re the go-to band for unforgettable celebrations. From intimate gatherings to grand events, our expertise and reputation have made us the top choice for couples across the South of England and the Midlands.

We are available from a 4-piece band consisting of soulful female vocalist, keyboards, bass and drums, as a 5-piece with a rocking guitarist, as a 6-piece with a fantastic saxophonist or if you love Motown and soul why not book our 7 or 8-piece band with a full horn section!

All our line-ups come completely self-contained with our PA system and stage lighting.

We offer DJ music played between our live sets and for 1-hour after our performance for no extra charge. We can also extend the dj music for 2 or 3 hours afterwards for an extra fee.

Music is at the heart of what we do, and we have a diverse repertoire that caters to all tastes. Whether you're a fan of classic soul, Motown and R&B from Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, The Jacksons, Diana Ross, Lizzo, Amy Winehouse, cameo and Tina Turner.

70s disco from Chic, ABBA, Earth, Wind and Fire and Donna Summer or rock anthems from Tina Turner, Bon Jovi.

Musicians in the band have performed or recorded wth Sir Cliff Richard, S Club 7, The Supremes, Ray Quinn, Kevin Simm (Liberty X, current lead vocalist with Wet, Wet,Wet), Bradley Walsh, Andy Abraham and even Sir Simon Rattle! and shared the stage with the Legendary Godfather of soul James Brown, The Animals, Steve Cropper, Saxon and many more!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

"We need a performance space of at least 4 meters x 4 meters. We require 2 x 13 amp power sockets and parking spaces."


What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue."


Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

"Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig."


Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music."


How much space do you require

We require at least 4 metres x 3 metres for our 4 & 5-piece band and 5x4 for our 6.7 and 8-piece band.

Headline show at the Electric Palace Theatre, Bridport with our 70s disco and funk show.


What's your favourite type of event?

: "We love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are our favourite! The guests are always happy and it’s easy to get them dancing."


What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

The band has been gigging at weddings, corporate events and parties for the last 13 years. We have all worked as professional musicians for 20 years plus.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

The genius of Stevie Wonder has been a great influence on us. One our a favourite song of his is 'Summer Soft' from the album Songs in the Key of Life.


What's your favourite type of music to play

We love playing soul, Motown, funk and any music where we can really groove and get the party started!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We require 90 minutes to load-in the equipment, setup and sound-check.
We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 1 hour.


Are you happy to perform outside?

"We’re happy to play outside but we ask for an area that is properly covered in case of rain, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area."


Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

"We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 2 songs, these need to be requested a few weeks before the event. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them."


How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Great audience engagement, superb instrument playing and banging vocals, I couldn't have asked for a better band to share our special (wedding) day.


Do you offer a dj services

Yes, we can play DJ music through our PA system between our live sets and for one hour afterwards free of charge.
We can also play dj music for up to 3 hours afterwards for an extra charge.
