Our accomplished musicians boast impressive credentials, having collaborated with renowned artists including Katie Melua, Omar, Tony Hadley, Alan Skidmore, Belinda Carlisle, Alfie Boe, and The Voice winners Sam Bailey and Jaz Ellington. At the forefront of SoulJazz is British Jazz & Soul vocalist Gemma Nelson, whose career spans over 28 years. Gemma has performed with some of the biggest names in Jazz, Funk, Pop, and Soul, including Kool and the Gang, Jimmy Ruffin, Roy G Hemmings (the Drifters), Cher, The RAF Squadronaires, and acclaimed Jazz pianist Neil Cowley. We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue
Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system and stage lighting if required.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music."
We've performed at some great jazz festivals as well as many private events.
We love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are our favourite! Especially performing outside at receptions in the afternoon.
We also perform together in a Motown and soul band. But we all love jazz and enjoy playing jazz standards as often as possible
Kurt Elling. Kurt is a contemporary jazz vocalist who performs some great arrangements of classic jazz standards as well as original songs.
We require around 30 minutes to setup and have a quick sound-check.
We generally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 1-hour.
We’re happy to play outside but require cover in case rain, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.
