"Check out the good Reverend on the internet and you’ll see this outfit described as “somewhere between Johnny Cash and Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds” with “similar artists” given as Seasick Steve and Eddie Martin – to which I might add, on the evidence of this lowdown and dirty blues CD, The Rolling Stones (60s version) and maybe vintage Canned Heat. Reverend plays guitar and drums, and he is aided and abetted by Owen Bray on guitar and blues harp, with Neil Sadler also providing bass and drum support. Ferriday started out playing indie-rock in the 80s and was working in National Debt with Michael Messer (and Bray) around the start of the millennium. This is his second album under his own name and the leader’s vocals are thick and mean, the songs direct and energetic, the sound gritty, raw, and real, with elements of the hard-driving North Mississippi hill country approach in places, Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and more than a tinge of alt-blues. A thoroughly modern blues album in other words, whilst drawing from the deep well of blues tradition, check it out. Norman Darwen "

"Rev Ferriday's musical past dates back to the late 1980s, with Indie rock band Loop but it was only in 2012 when his first solo album appeared. The follow-up is all set to be released on 21 October. With bluesy harmonica well to the fore, deep vocals and general grungy feel, Nine Beats presents nine slices of down 'n' dirty blues, described in the publicity blurb as inhabiting a place ''somewhere between Johnny Cash and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.'' On close inspection, I'd say the description is not a million miles from the truth. The sound reminds me of other artists too, such as Ian Siegal (especially from his Revelator era).Mostly, the pace is uptempo, with a rock feel, but there is room for the occasional step into the world of more traditional blues, such as10/6.Catchy riffs abound; it's all toe-tappingly good stuff with simple enough arrangements that were presumably designed to be played live.Stand out tracks: Moonshine, Nine Beats."

"Dear Peter and the band. Just to say thank you for such a brilliant evening. It was really appreciated. (You are all brilliant musicians). Olwen really enjoyed her 70th. We had a fabulous time. All your reviews will be 10 out of 10. Thank you so much. Especially as you had to come a long way. All I can say again is thank you"

"The Organizers stepped in last minute as our band cancelled. What a great night we had and being a duo it cost us a lot less than the previous act we booked. We loved the soul music and rock blues they played for us and for 2 musicians what a full sound they had. Thanks guys, we would have no hesitation in booking them again for our family functions."

"I found it so easy to book The Crotchet Club for my wedding reception. The email correspondence was very quick and easy and they took all my wishes and requests on board. I wanted some upbeat jazz to create an atmosphere for my wedding reception, and this is exactly what the trio did. They played beautifully! I didn't have to worry about any logistics once I had given them all of the info and they liaised directly with my DJ to ensure they were making use of the space and equipment at the party. I would absolutely book them again for a future party - they are very talented and great value!"

"My wife and I were looking for a 50's rock and roll band for our wedding and after a lot of scouting around and searching around we finally came across these guys. What can I say, they were absolutely amazing! From the moment we booked them, their communication was outstanding and they were superb for sending over all the necessary documents that the venue required to ensure a smooth and hassle free night. To top it off they absolutely blew us away live, the dance floor was full from the moment they kicked in and stayed that way until they played their last number. The only complaint was that everyone's feet hurt like hell the next morning from all the dancing. Thank you so much for absolutely making our 50's wedding dream come true. It wouldn't have been the same without you. If you're reading this testimonial, you absolutely have to hire this band if you want to party all night long. Brilliant"

"I saw the band 3 years ago in Lefkada where I was for honeymoon with my wife ,in a very special bar called Tree bar. I can tell you,we were dancing straight for 3 hours. We stopped when the band has to stop and when the moon was high in the night sky. High recommend band for parties!! "

"My rating is based on the amazing interaction and service provided by S&R Music. I dealt with Clyde Visagie who from the first interaction was professional, upfront and very accommodating. My request was late, we had some limitations to deal with but Clyde and his band members were professional and accommodating and the evening was a great success. Compliments all round and my colleagues were very appreciative of the offering by S&R music. Thank you Clyde and the rest of the team."

"David Reed - Belleville Intelligencer Tony Vani has been making music in the Belleville area for decades. Folks in the music community know him as a versatile performer, cranking out blues and classic rock with the Stir, gospel blues with Tony Vani and the Holy Blues Band, solo performances and some work with slide guitarist Kenny Pauze. Tony is a respected singer and guitarist, but it is his harmonica playing that really grabs me by the throat. The title track on Tony's, Her Blues CD, is a mournful confession with harmonica lines that seem to emanate from the depths of a troubled soul. The best description for his playing is “authentic.” I hear flashes of Charlie Musselwhite and the immortal Little Walter on a few tracks. (I’m also a sucker for a little tremolo on the guitar.) Other highlights include Die Trying, Still Got Her Soul, Price of Love, Catch You When You Fall and the hopeful Sun Will Rise. Tony Vani has got something truly special with his harmonica sound and he has lovingly crafted this collection over seven long years. You should check out this record."
